SELF-CARE RENAISSANCE 2021

SELF CARE RENAISSANCE 2021

There is some sort of magic happening here if you ask me!

resilience + mindset shift = do it yourself

Maybe it is the unintentional consequences of “staying at home”? More and more people are embracing wellness as a lifestyle. It is unavoidable, really. We are cooking more at home, exercising more at home, and engaging with health care providers more at home. As challenging as this has been it brings us back to the roots of wellness.

wellness forms a foundation

Wellness forms the foundation of "home". A self care renaissance, perhaps, gives us permission to slow down and stay home a bit more? To engage in more acts of caring for yourself and doing things that feed your body, mind, heart, and soul? To engage with more pleasure and joy? (and, yes, it is with purpose that I choose a “?” punctuation, as I realize these ideas may not be “true” for everyone.

why am i excited about a self care renaissance?

Staying at home and has had its ups, downs, challenges, and opportunities. I have found a way to excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to bring into my home all that I love about my favorite yoga experiences, 5-star resorts and restaurants, and having curated wellness packages and meals delivered to my door. This excites me! And yes, while this is not all rose petals and champagne bubbles, there is so much we can extract from these challenging times. Here are a few ideas:

7 simple ways to have your own self care renaissance

  • Take five minutes each day to ask yourself - body, mind, heart, and soul - what they are craving most. TRUE DESIRES.

  • Map out your “perfect day” and challenge yourself to execute it AT HOME.

  • Pick one “mindset” trap that interrupts you from being and believing in the best version of yourself and release it, challenge it, or reframe it.

  • Get out the china and set yourself a beautiful table for dinner, one night each month.

  • Find movement. No time frame, no pressure, just movement where you feel your breath. Where you feel “present” with yourself.

  • Get yourself an exquisite robe and hairbrush. Put your feet up and brush your hair...or ask your sweetie to do it for you. Doze off to sleep on a silk pillowcase. This is what dreams are made of!

  • Try dry body brushing, trust me when I tell you that it feels SO SO SO good.
